The Quilon Co-operative Spinning Mills Ltd was registered as an Industrial Co-operative Society, under the Co-operative Societies Act on 13-02-1976, governed by the Industries Department. The foundation stone was laid on 26-08-1978 by the Hon'ble Chief Minister Shri A.K. Antony while production of the Mills started in October 1983 and the Mill went into full production in February 1986, the inauguration of the Mills also took place on 11-02-1986 by the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Kerala, Late Shri K. Karunakaran while Shri E. Ahamed was the Minister for Industries. The initial stages of the Mills witnessed the able guidance of the founder chairman Late Shri P. RAVINDRAN, ably assisted by political stalwarts like Late Shri R.S. Unny, Shri C.V. Padmarajan, Shri P.K. Gurudasan and Shri J. Chitharenjan, all former Ministers of the State. The Quilon Co-operative Spinning Mills is one among the oldest Co-operative Spinning Mills in the state, located at Karamcode, 22 kms from Kollam and 55 kms from Trivandrum. We are having a 25,000 spindle capacity Spinning Mills, producing 62's carded cotton Yarn, 50s PC Yarn and 60s PC Yarn. The Mill achieved the Corporate Social Responsibility by providing employment to 500 persons directly as an Industrial Unit in the remote area of Quilon District and is indirectly responsible for the socio-economic changes on and around Chathannoor Grama Panchayat. In spite of ups and downs in the textile industry of the country, Quilon Co-operative Spinning Mills is striving strong, even after a span of thirty years, overcoming the financial crisis and is now ably guided by the active social worker and politician Shri.
